Commanding 156 acres of Wine Country luxury, 7596 Sonoma Mountain Road has come to market with an equally commanding price tag of $32.5 million. The property offers a plethora of impressive amenities, including a custom-made mansion, a 42-acre vineyard and a state park for a neighbor.
The estate rests behind a private gate and fence that encompass the entire property. The main home itself is a modern mansion of 14,033 square feet, with four en-suite bedrooms plus two half-bathrooms.
This home was designed “through the collaboration of two award-winning companies,” according to the listing: Aidlin Darling Design, a San Francisco interior design firm and 2023 Interior Design Hall of Fame Inductee, and Cello & Maudru Construction, winner of numerous honors and prolific builder of notable Bay Area residences, wineries and other businesses.
Glass walls retract to allow seamless access to the outside space. Upstairs, bedrooms look out over the property’s acreage or open to private balconies for taking in the view.
The property also includes a guest house designed to mirror the modern sensibilities of the main house — a sleek glass and stone abode, offering views of the landscape from virtually every room. This structure adds three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and 3,013 square feet to the total living space of the estate.
Impressive though these homes are, the property’s exterior features are equally dazzling. "This property is unlike anything else on the market,” listing agent Marcy Roth of Douglas Elliman said. “It features two architecturally significant structures — the main residence and a charming guest house — along with a working vineyard and a serene redwood forest.”
That vineyard, an organically farmed 42 acres, "primarily cultivates Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot” as well as smaller quantities of other varietals, per the listing. The vines, which were planted in 2001, are certified by the “California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF), Fish Friendly Farming, and Sonoma County Sustainable organizations," the listing says.
The estate also offers fruit orchards, lavender fields and a redwood grove. A 1,175-square-foot vintage agriculture barn stands ready to store the equipment that future tenders of this land might need. Its location adds even more serenity: The property lies in the Sonoma Mountains town of Glen Ellen, bordering Jack London State Park.
Owner and seller Christine Murray told SFGATE that living at 7596 Sonoma Mountain Road has been particularly special, as the property as we see it now was custom designed for her family.
“Working with Aidlin Darling Design was an incredibly rewarding experience. They were dedicated to creating a stunning home on our unique property, which offered our family a peaceful retreat,” Murray wrote in an email. “Surrounded by breathtaking views and nature's beauty throughout every season, our home became a cherished sanctuary where we could truly connect and unwind.”
Now, the Murrays hope to find buyers seeking this same kind of sanctuary.
